Packaging Color = Healthy Energy Bar?

Whenever you go to the grocery store, do you give particular attention to the packaging of goods before you buy them?

Sometimes, we do this to check whether a particular product still looks fresh or worn out.

However, some researchers found that the color of the packaging of a product contributes to our perception of the healthfulness of a product, which then influences our behavior in buying the particular product. A study conducted by Lotz (2016) suggested that the color of the packaging has an effect on the perceived healthfulness of energy bars, in particular.

The results of the study revealed that participants perceived the green energy bar as being the healthiest out of all 7 colors that were presented. Furthermore, the color yellow was perceived as the 2nd healthiest while the colors orange, blue, and brown ranked third.
